Nepal is one of the most prominent countries in South Asia. A landlocked country, Nepal shares its borders with the world’s most populated countries i.e., India and China. It is famous for its mountainous scenery and idyllic beauty. The country holds a significant history and Himalayan culture which makes it stand among the other mountainous countries. Nepal is home to various religions, languages, and people from different ethnic backgrounds. From its scenic beauty to its multicultural society, Nepal is among the top tourist countries you must visit!
In 2019, during my Asian DJ tour, I got this amazing opportunity to spend two days in the country of mountains and I can say this with guarantee, it was totally worth it! Two days is a short time to explore such a diverse country, but still, I enjoyed every bit of my tour to Nepal. Here are some incredible places to see and things to do while you are in Nepal.

Explore Swayambhunath Stupa – also known as the Monkey Temple
In the hilly midst of the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu, lies a sacred and historic complex known as Swayambhunath Stupa. The complex comprises Buddhist temples and shrines. It is one of the most sacred and top tourist attractions in Kathmandu. The complex is also known as Monkey temple – as it houses hundreds of monkeys under its roof. I witnessed the amazing statue of Buddha and the Sleeping Buddha. This shrine is believed to be a source of peace and harmony in this area. For a deeper look into the Nepali culture, this is the best place to visit.
Experience royalty at the Kathmandu Durbar Square
On my tour to Nepal, I happened to visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square which is a prominent historical landmark. It is declared as a “UNESCO World Heritage Site”. Durbar means the royal palace and as the name suggests the locals visit this place to practice their holy rituals, royal events, and other important ceremonies. The Square is surrounded by holy statues, ponds, fountains, and ancient artifacts. I really enjoyed the aesthetic beauty and architecture of Durbar Square.
Enjoy a Rickshaw Ride
One of the most interesting things to do in Kathmandu, Nepal is to enjoy a Rickshaw ride. Rickshaw is the basic transport vehicle in the city. Its rides are the best way to travel across the different tourist spots or experience the busy life of Kathmandu. Many English-speaking guides are available with the rides so that you can get an insight into Nepal’s culture by traveling around the city.
Taste the Nepali Cuisine
Nepali food is quite famous all around the world due to its unique cooking styles and spices. I tried the traditional Nepali cuisine e.g., Chicken dal bhat, buff momos, and Indian-Nepali sweets. The taste of the food was beyond my imagination.
Disco Night at the Senate Club
For a lively disco night, make sure you visit the Senate Club. I performed there during my tour and it was my favorite gig ever. The club offered an amazing ambiance and the crowd was quite engaging and hyped. From its food to event organization, everything went smooth!
