Perfectly positioned on one of lofty Bel Air’s most famous streets is the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel. Describing itself as an “urban oasis”, this hotel is a stylish and convenient base for exploring the City of Angels – as my husband and I discovered during a short break in February.
The Hotel
If it’s a prime location you are looking for, you really can’t get much better than the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel. At the crossroads of Brentwood and Bel Air, there’s a dazzling array of amenities and attractions right at your fingertips.
The hotel itself is stylish, and partly covered in brilliant vines – immediately giving you that “urban oasis” feel. Inside, the hotel and grounds have a relaxed yet stylish atmosphere with a hint of a retro, mid-century feel.
The hotel is a popular wedding destination for locals and visitors. As a result, it can be quite loud – when we stayed, there was a wedding on both Saturday and Sunday, both of which were noisy until the early hours of the morning.
We also noticed that the guests weren’t wearing masks, so if you are not comfortable with this or the noise, it might be best to avoid the hotel on the weekends.
The Room
When my husband and I entered our room, we immediately noticed its spacious and modern feel. In particular, the bathroom was very well-equipped, with both a shower and a bathtub for relaxing in.
We did discover that the patio adjoining our room was not private, which was a little disappointing so we did not use it. Overall, however, the room was spacious, light and had everything we needed for a great stay.
Amenities
Even though we stayed in February, Los Angeles’ famously warm weather meant we still couldn’t resist checking out the pool. It certainly didn’t disappoint as it was sparkling clean and oh-so inviting. Plus, there was hardly anyone using it so it felt like a private retreat.
The hotel also has a fitness center and business center.
Dining and Drinking
The Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel has a selection of its own dining options, including in-room dining from 6.30am to 10pm. We decided to make the most of this and opt for a casual breakfast in bed. It arrived very quickly and was delicious – a great way to wake up in LA!
The hotel also has its own Mediterranean-inspired restaurant called SIROCCO, where you can either dine in or take away.
Thanks to the hotel’s fabulous location, we also opted to explore some nearby options. We had a delicious lunch and dinner at the nearby popular Mediterranean haunt, Soom Soom, and also discovered a gorgeous little bakery too. There’s also the ever-popular Starbucks nearby as well – ideal for getting your caffeine fix like a real Los Angeles local.
